I'm currently studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, aiming to become a palaeontologist/zoologist. My favourite animals are bats as they are so fascinating and unique, and definitely do not deserve the bad reputation they have!

I've been making jewellery on and off for most of my life, but it wasnt until two years ago when I finished my GCSEs and decided to take it more seriously. The technique I use (mostly, I do dabble around a bit) is called wire wrapping, and I use many many different types of beads and gemstones to create a variety of different styles of jewellery. My personal favourite is steampunk jewellery, as steampunk is a style I've always loved (being a sci fi fan), but I try to make something to suit everybody!

Recently I got involved in cosplay, so I've begun branching out into cosplay jewellery and things with an anime/manga/gaming theme. I enjoy making costumes and wearing them at
conventions and other events.

Why Halcyon Days? Well, I wanted a name that was a little unusual, and as you can see from the links below, I have a tendancy to pick long, animal-related names that not many people understand. Halcyon Days comes from the Greek myth of Alcyone, and they refer to the seven days of winter when storms never occur. In the myth, (although there are different versions) Alcyone throws herself into the sea in grief at the news of her husband's death. The gods took pity on them and turned them both into kingfishers. Sometimes I am lucky enouch to see kingfishers flying along the river near where I live, and the name's link with some of the most beautiful birds on the planet definitely influenced my decision.
I also liked the association with time, as it fits in well with my interest in palaeontology and steampunk as well as the fossils I use in some of my jewellery.
