Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin

SIND WIR DAS ESSEN? NEIN, WIR SIND DIE JÄGER!

(usual apologies for not updating more regularly, so on and so forth)

You may have heard of this anime. It has been HUGE on the internet. My friends told me for months I should watch it, and I eventually decided to give it a try.

My first impressions... THE OPENING. WOW.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMXgHfHxKVM

So I kept watching.

Background: humanity has been driven to near extinction by giant, man eating humanoids known as titans. They live behind three giant 50m high walls for safety, with only a brave few venturing out to explore (and almost certainly get massacred in) the world beyond. After 100 years of peace, a 60m tall titan appears, breaks down the walls and breaches humanity's safety. Many are killed and eaten. This includes the main protagonist Eren's mother, causing him to vow to wipe out the titans in revenge.

WARNING

After the first episode I spent around 10mins staring at my computer screen with my mind in shock. One scene in the first episode was so shocking and horrific it left me shaken up and deciding the anime wasn't at all for me.

I mean, I had heard it was gruesome, but I wasn't quite expecting that...

This resolve to not watch it again barely lasted any time at all, mainly due to the opening music, which I couldn't stop listening to.

So I became addicted. I love the complex plot. I love the characters (Hanji Zoe is basically me, but for titans instead of bats). I love the soundtrack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGjwsowDDhI). I love the amazing action scenes.

Yes, it IS gruesome. But I found it (mostly) bearable, and if you can deal with that kind of thing then I very highly recommend it. Be warned, however, in true George R R Martin style, nobody is safe and characters you love will sometimes be killed suddenly and without warning.

If you're not sure (fair enough), this trailer is reasonably safe to watch (and has music by Audiomachine, which is always a bonus)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3LHE5U8iOw

I shall leave you with the comment of one youtube reviewer:
"who wouldn't want to see an army of medieval spider men flying around buildings slicing up giant man-eating zombies??"

Off to university!

I go to uni tomorrow! I'm dead excited, but a little nervous too!

Commissions and sales are now closed. See my previous blog post for the details, but if theres something you want I'm more than happy to reserve it for you, provided its not already been sold in the shop.

Here are a few new pairs of earrings I've made:

These are made from miracle beads strung in a chain. I wanted to use ear hooks but I'd run out so had to use studs instead.

When wearing earrings, do you prefer studs or hooks?

Secondly, two lovely pieces of shell hung on wire with acrylic shell beads. My camera whitewashed this picture, sorry, the shell beads have a lovely streak of bluey green running across them which is a lot brighter than you can see here!

A few purchases for university:

Found this on ebay, its supposedly a limited edition Square Enix product. Whether it is or not I dont know (it does look authentic, but I dont know enough to judge), and I dont really care, because its awesome.

I couldnt find a decent bag to take to lectures anywhere, so I bought a cheap plain one and decorated it with lots of badges. Again, my camera kind of ruined this picture and you cant read the Game of Thrones badges (which are the best, especially the House Stark one). I bought those badges in Waterstones for £4.99, which was a bit expensive, and I got House Baratheon, Stark, Tully and Greyjoy. I'm very tempted to go back and get the other pack, which was Targaryen, Lannister, Arryn and a picture of the Iron Throne.
The other badges are mostly steampunk or random ones I bought at the Nemacon Artists Alley, and a few from David and Goliath (I love that shop).

Apparently my face when I saw this jumper in H+M was priceless! I just had to buy it...

Puppy love!!! Her name is Poppy and she's very mischievous but I love her to pieces. Here she is investigating the camera.

Have you all gone to university yet? What did you get up to in Freshers Week?

Even if the morrow is barren of promises, nothing shall forestall my return...

Currently...

Idea from: Hello Naka

Obsessing over Game of Thrones. A friend lent me the books and they are awesome!! Really looking forward to seeing the TV series at some point as well. Winter is coming...

Working on getting these ridiculous grades in August. I need A*AA and I doubt I'm ever going to get an A* in anything tbh... Right this moment I'm doing a biology past paper, struggling through an 11 mark question on innate and learned behaviour D:

Thinking about tomorrow!! Goth Weekend!! Cannot wait to show you all my awesome costume :D

Anticipating needing to get everything ready for tomorrow D: lots and lots to do...

Listening to Ooooh lots at the moment. I just bought Audiomachine's first ever public release and IT IS EPIC. Wow. I love it. My favourite band at the moment is A Skylit Drive, because they're amazing, and my favourite song is Preliator by Globus (although give me a day and that will probably have changed :P). Right this minute I'm listening to Eon by Celldweller. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkCUJdmUarw

Eating cupcakes :)

Wishing I would pass my exams with the grades I need :/

Now back to the biology....

Even if the morrow is barren of promises, nothing shall forestall my return...
